The national catalogue of plant species and varieties, for a World Bank-funded project.
The challenge
A variety catalogue serves as a reference for the players in a value chain. In 2025, we produced Côte d’Ivoire’s catalogue for PDC2V, a World Bank-funded project, as part of a consortium. Under the Food Crop Value Chain Development Project (PDC2V), the country needed a national catalogue of plant species and varieties, open to all.
How the assignment unfolded
Producers, researchers, seed companies and government services need a common reference on the varieties grown in the country. Under the Food Crop Value Chain Development Project (PDC2V), funded by the World Bank, we produced the national catalogue of plant species and varieties. Scham’s led the consortium formed with GLOBUX TECHNOLOGY. The assignment began with a baseline review, followed by the drafting of a description sheet for each variety. It resulted in a catalogue in print and digital versions, and a consultation tool on the web and on mobile.
