The challenge
For a rice operator, the milling ratio and shrinkage determine the real value of a stock: it takes reliable measurements, recorded at every movement.
How the assignment unfolded
For a rice operator, one question matters more than the others: how much milled rice is actually obtained from the paddy received? In Guiglo, Grain d’Avenir entrusted us with the full monitoring of its stock for eight months. We recorded and weighed the paddy at each receipt, followed damage and stacking, then measured the milling ratio, from paddy to milled rice. Bagging and deliveries were followed through to the end, with checks on storage standards and the calculation of shrinkage.
